The Regional Government promotes the nautical sector of the Balearic Islands at the BOOT trade fair in Düsseldorf, considered one of the most important international forums
The Regional Ministry for Business, Self-Employment and Energy has promoted the nautical sector of the Balearic Islands at one of the most important business forums in the world, the BOOT trade fair, which is being held from 17 to 25 January in Düsseldorf and attracts around 200,000 visitors annually. The event, with more than 1,500 exhibitors from some sixty countries, is one of the most important international forums for the nautical ecosystem.

It is also responsible for 5,145 jobs. This initiative has the support of the Balearic Marine Cluster, which brings together more than a hundred companies and whose main objectives include positioning the Balearic Islands’ sector as a global benchmark.
The Regional Minister for Business, the Self-Employed and Energy, Alejandro Sáenz de San Pedro, visited the BOOT fair to support the companies present there. Also in attendance were the Director General of Industry and Industrial Estates, Alfons Gómez, and the Manager of the Balearic Islands Regional Development Agency, Silvia Delgado, the entity responsible for organising the Palma International Boat Show together with the Balearic Yacht Brokers Association (BYBA).
The Minister stated that “these actions are very important in order to raise awareness of the potential of our companies abroad. If we want to increase the visibility of the Balearic Islands’ business fabric, we have to participate in these events, as they are the epicentre of the global nautical industry .’. Alejandro Sáenz de San Pedro emphasised that ’the Regional Ministry is working together with the sector to design joint actions that contribute to business growth by opening up new markets.”
The minister also met with the director of Boot, Petros Michelidakis, to discuss the role of nautical fairs as a driver of growth in the sector. In addition, Alejandro Sáenz de San Pedro also held a meeting with Philip Easthill, director of the European Boating Industry, an association dedicated to boat regulations, which is currently focusing on electric boats.
The Palma International Boat Show also played a prominent role in the promotional activities at the BOOT trade fair, as it was used to publicise the new features of the next edition of the Palma event and attract international visitors.
